The Hijri calendar is lunar: each of its twelve months begins with the sighting of a new crescent moon, which is why a Hijri year runs about eleven days shorter than a Gregorian one and Islamic dates drift earlier each solar year. Ramadan, for instance, moves through every season over roughly a 33-year cycle.
Because the new moon is confirmed locally, the exact start of a month can differ by a day between, say, Morocco and Indonesia. This site calculates dates using the standard tabular (civil) method — a fixed, predictable pattern that closely tracks real sightings — and gives you a manual offset if your country's announcement lands a day either side.

Each method sets slightly different sun-angle thresholds for Fajr and Isha, which is why the same city can show times a few minutes apart depending on which authority's convention you use.

Why do dates here sometimes differ from my mosque's announcement?
This site calculates the Hijri date astronomically, using a fixed tabular pattern. Your mosque or national authority confirms the actual month by moon sighting, which can fall a day earlier or later. Use the offset control on the converter page to match your local announcement.
Which prayer time calculation method should I use?

Does this site work outside major cities?

Why do some Islamic events show two dates?
